The Department of History at Bilkent University invites applications for a position of open rank in Modern European History, starting in September 2027. The candidate should be able to offer graduate courses on specialized aspects of the history of Europe after AD 1700, as well as undergraduate lectures on Modern European History and upper-level undergraduate courses.
Preference will be given to those whose research focuses on any aspect of European History during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, with reference to Continental Europe and/or Britain and Ireland. We encourage applications from candidates who demonstrate clear potential in research, publications, and teaching, including both early-career scholars and more established historians. The Department of History particularly welcomes applications from historians who will enhance the department’s existing thematic and interdisciplinary strengths.
Qualifications: A doctorate degree in History is required.
